Anyone have opinions/thoughts on the changes with White Wolf and their World of Darkness?
Over five interlocking games got to be too much to support, now only one World of Darkness with a general set of rules and a Vampire game will be the case.
Thoughts on Vampire: The Reqiuem?
I enjoyed the modern WoD so I will continue playing it and running it, but will probably eventually acquire the newer games after I see how they play perhaps in the future online or in person.
They even have stuff up at a new site, but you can reference the new site from the old.

Ok... have been wondering what was going on with this... I had heard that the WOD vampire game was ending!? (gasp) That makes more sence that it was just getting to be toooo much to suport. I couldn't figure why they'd just do away with such a succesful game. But so... they are just combining all the games into one? IE: wherewolf, mage, vampire etc? I think that could be a good idea... however I'm concened about the fun/farness of the game. the only time I ever played a combo game (yes with a bad ST). It sucked! we had us Vampires and these mages... and (again the ST was a mage fan) the mages were like Gods and us little vampires were now pathetic little critters... wasn't much fun playing as a Vamp in that game. So am curious (I know I just had a bad expirience) but how do they handle the power ratios of the different beings (IE: fairies, mages, ghosts, vampires etc)? And can you play a dragon? I have no idea about dragons in WW. (grins) but have always wanted to play a dragon (even a dragon trapped in another body lol) _________________ This is where I'm suposed to type something clever or cryptic right? |

Yes, the modern World of Darkness ended this past April 2004. White Wolf stopped publishing the various modern versions and mentioned a new game would be released that combined them all. There is a seperate Vampire game and then a general World of Darkness game/setting all based on the originals (evidently the rules are still similar too).

They're suppose to be releasing the new books this month and expect they'll have a big showing at the convention here since its their home state and all.
I love the modern WoD and own most of the books, so I'll be playing it for awhile and likely not getting the newer game unless I get some deal or someone convinces me otherwise. I got 30 games so its not like I don't have something to play.
As for the power levels in the older modern WoD setting, yes Mages are more powerful then most, but they're mortal and bullets do kill them, as does vampire bites, werewolf claws etc.
Mages are mortals with "magic" and awakened avatars. Vampires, Werewolves, Fae are supernatural and heal faster/better than mortals. Also remember hunters hunt them all, they don't care usually if you're a nature loving Verbena witch or not.
I love crossover games, but am trying to just get some Kindred or anything to play in the Crypt nowadays. I do teach and would be happy to help you learn. _________________ Lando |

thumbed through (very briefly) the new "Wolds of Darkness" and "Vampire the Requiem"... I love the look of the new vamp book... but aside from the aesthetic I didn't see much difference... grant it I really didn't read much (was in a hurry) but the index and the flaws and merits seemed basicaly the same. Has anyone else picked it up yet? I do love the new look of it though, and might get it just to add such a lovely book to my collection. _________________ This is where I'm suposed to type something clever or cryptic right? |
